An FFA Adventure

Well I yesterday I had my first FFA horse judging contest! It was a fail of epic proportions! XD We left from my school at 2:20 and got to Chico at about 8:30. There was a rave going on at the hotel when we got there. Mr. Silva came and got on the bus and announced, "There are scary people in neon clothes in the hallways. Don't talk to them!" As we were unloading our stuff from under the bus, a guy and a girl came running out holding hands and laughing and ran off in to the dark of the parking lot. XD We all know how that'un ended up! Lol

So the place we were going to judge was about half an hour away from the college, where the rest of the competitions were taking place so we had to leave at 6:00, half an hour before everyone else, so we didn't get breakfast. Which was fine... it just made it worse when we ate lunch late!! XD

So we judged several classes of really crappy horses... We judged a huge QH built paint in a Thoroughbred class... which was interesting... haha! Needless to say, even though it was a really nice horse, he was placed at the bottom of class. At least... he should have been! We're judging by breed standards, after all! Haha I'll get to that later.

I had a terrible time with the reining class. I've never seen bad reining before! I didn't know where to place emphasis... and the pattern was new to me since I've never ridden a reining pattern before and never understood it. That was easy to figure out... however, I was seriously stumped about a lot of it. I've watched NRHA reining before, but when it came to BAD reining. I was like.... whaaat? XD

Anyways, my reasons sucked and I had to look at my notes on both.

It was a lot of fun, though!! The team I was on was the more experienced of the two at Minarets and we placed 16 out of 28. The other team placed 22 out of 28. :)

The judge, however, had me seriously confused. There was an english pleasure class (I had that one in the bag!) and she was talking about one of the horses. She was like "he's a great mover, has lots of scope..." I went... wth?! Lol that was SUCH a dumb remark. It's a FLAT class! That's like saying he had a nice canter in a walk-trot class! Lol I laughed at that one (not till after though... I'm not rude! XD) She really liked to hear herself talk! Haha (: These words... I don't think she knows what they mean...

So then the bus broke down... xD And we were stuck on the side of the freeway for a while. Mrs. Mattes had a car and she ferried all of us (45 students and some teachers) to an In-N-Out 7 at a time. XD We slowly took over the place! haha! We were 9 hours from the school, so they miraculously got a hold of a charter bus and we drove back. We stopped in Sacramento and switched buses. We got to the school at 4:17 a.m. Talk about zombies! XD

So that's my adventure for the weekend!!
