Finding a Job at a Barn after School

I am hoping to eventually own a horse barn. However, that wont happen for a while since I don't have the money to buy, build, or manage a barn yet. I plan to go to college next year to learn how to train horses, learn how to give lessons, and all the equestrian stuff that I need in order to manage my own barn. After college, I want to be able to find a job at a barn that would have decent pay, so that I could pay for my insurance and any other bills that I need to pay.
Is there anyone who has gone through college and then had to find a job at a barn? I need to know if it's hard to find, and if it's possible to live off of. I really want to do everything that I can with horses, but if I need to get another degree in something, I need to figure out what it's going to be as soon as possible. Any advice?

You can probably live comfortably off "barn pay" but probably not enough to buy a whole farm yourself. If you teach and charge a certain amount per lesson to the barn owner (ie 10$ per student) you'll make more money than getting paid by the hour. You can always do extra things for extra money - train horses, pull manes, braid manes, clip horses, etc.

ETA: If you work for a racing stable sometimes you get extra money for paddocking a horse, or a little extra if one of your horses wins!
