We warmed up really well. Veggie is being a little lazy.
We go in and trot down to the end of the ring. It's super spooky down there with fake hedges, rock gardens and dragons (chinese theme due to the olympics, we think). Veg is a little lookie but a good boy.
Salute the judge and the buzzer goes. Our first jump is an oxer about 3 strides from the wall. We jump that beautifully, then do a very long bending line shape (too long to count strides in) to another oxer on the diagonal. Jump that beautifully. Jump #3 comes up very quickly. We get a bit deep to it but Veg jumps it well and we do a lovely, flowing 7 stride bending line to the oxer out. Jumped it well.
Because it was our first day at Spruce we decided we would go outside all the jumps to the one stride, just to make sure the round was smooth.
We got a little deep to the in but jumped out well.
Then we came to the skinny. I was worried about this one but up and over we went.
A long canter to a diagonal oxer, Veg was a little worried by this one so jumped it with tons of room to spare.
The next jump also came up very fast. Jumped that vertical well, then 5 semi tight strides to an oxer then 3 longer strides out over our final vertical!
We jumped the course totally clean but had one time fault, but that's what we were going for. Smooth, and flowing so next time we can do tighter corners and feel confident with it.
And up until the second last rider I was in 6th place (ribbons only go to 6th) but she went totally clear. I was so happy with my Veggie man. He tried so hard. I will have video and hopefully pics from the weekend but I am not sure when I will have them by.
I have one 3'6 round today. 2 tomorrow and 1 on sunday
