Found a coach!

I am so happy! Ever since I got my babies (2 yr old and 1 yr old Morgans) I have been worrying about their training. I have trained a few horses in my day, but that was yesterday! I was out of horses for nearly 20 years, and my new hubby has no horse experience whatsoever. I didn't know how I would be able to train him as well as train the horses, especially since I have no access to a trained horse for him to learn on. This summer we went to an equine event which had demonstrations, clinics, etc. and one of the clinicians was a teacher who trains horses and also trains trainers. We watched her do a lunging demo with a young horse, and I was very impressed. I really liked her approach to training and her methods. There was an opportunity to speak to her after the demo but too many other people were crowded around her so I didn't bother. Since then I have researched her online and learned more about her. I finally got up the courage to email her about lessons for my husband, as well as help with training my horses and we are getting things set up. We are going to start with a few lessons for both of us (for the price of one), since I have been away from it for so long and could probably use them. She has also agreed to either come here and help with my horses, or she does training clinics at her stable where you bring your horse and stay for 4 days, and she gets you started in their training. It's a wonderful opportunity because she is highly qualified as an instructor and trainer in several disciplines, including driving which has always interested me. So I'm quite excited about the whole thing, and can't wait to get started!

Great! It's definitely not an easy task from my experience (to find a good trainer). :) Best luck with them!
