Found My TB On The Registry

So I just had to share this! I found my Thoroughbred on the Jockey Club Registry! I've know him most of his life as Bagheera. His registered racing name is Mystic Request. He was born in Minnesota and raced four times. He sucked as a race horse, but I still love him. Lol Who else has looked up their TB's? Did you find any cool racing history about them?

Mine came with the name Sissy, I changed it to Alahna and her registered name is Buea Oak.
25 starts with 5 wins, and she was always dead last on the sloppy tracks. It shows in our trails too, she HATES mud.

If I remember correctly she was bred from a mare (D'Accord) kept/trained at Mountaineer Racetrack in West Virginia.

Foal
Hey, at least your TBs made it to the track. The gelding I'm leasing (and might buy) was so bad that he didn't even have any starts. His owner didn't even register his name because he failed the preliminary race tests since he didn't have the drive. His reserved name was Dixie's Country Cat, so I'm happy he didn't get registered hahaha

Lol My guy's dam was named Foof. I feel horrible for that mare and am super grateful Bagheera's registered name isn't something equally horrible. Fofo, Foofy, or anything along those lines would have been laughable.

My Thoroughbred Gelding's barn name is Hero. His registered name is Hero Act , haha not too far away from his barn name. Hero raced 53 times, won 6, placed in 3, and came in 3rd 4 times. My horse has Secretariat, Bold Ruler, Northern Dancer, Native Dancer, Damascus, Nasrullah and others in his pedigree.

Mine has all those aside from the last two, Hero :p

Since we're talking TBs, is there any way to find out if a mare has had foals? O.o

I got my OTTB in January, as a rescue from the Humane Society of North Texas. She was skinny, but is almost 100% now. Her name is Fabulous Lil E. She "came with" a copy of her registration. Her grandsire was Seattle Slew!! I don't know a lot about TB blood lines, but I do recognize several names. She had 4 races, never placed. She was at a "Hunter/Jumper" stable when seized by the HS. I have no idea if/what any training she had after the race track, but she's doing well when I ride her. I have a copy of her old coggins, with her previous owners name. You don't know how tempted I've been to call to find out any history. But, it may not be a good idea, since she was seized by the HS.

Alahna is by Catienus, out of Sassy Accord (not D'Accord, lol).

I tried a couple google searches but didn't come up with anything :/ I remember seeing how you could look up a horse by knowing it's dam on the registry site, I just can't find it anywhere, lol.

I still have to decide on if I want to get a copy of her papers..I really only need them to breed her since the copy is irrelevant to the TB world.

My old horse's registered name was Casady Brook Hill... he was a gelding but he rocked the barn name Casady. He was from Maryland. His sire was War Jeep who I believe was the grandson of War Admiral. He only had 12 starts before he was injured. He had 3 wins, and placed 4 times. Pretty successful. I got him when he was 5 yrs old and I was 11... worst first horse ever! Lol I think back on it now and I'm amazed that I didn't get killed. I had him for 10 years. He was the most athletic horse I've ever ridden and would try his heart out to do what you wanted. Unfortunately, he passed away last year at only 16 (colic).
Another OTTB that I had was a little chestnut mare named Hope. She was the exact opposite of Casady. She had the temperment of a QH. Sweet as can be. When I looked her up I found it amusing that her racing name was "LittleMissPuddleJumper" or something very similar to that. She had 3 starts and was a terrible racehorse. I sold her to a girl that was planning on using her as a hunter jumper.
I love OTTBs :)
