Just a quick Q.
Or a few ;D
How often do you call your saddler out?
Does your saddler check your horse's back?
Does your saddler expect you to pick the saddle up without seeing it on the horse?
To cut a long story straight I've been struggling with Duffy & Saddles. My dad's Kieffer doesn't fit his mare anymore so he's said I'm welcome to it, its only a couple of years old, and they have plastic trees so can be re-molded.
A friend recommended this saddler, so I thought why not, mine no longer existed. The first time I mentioned to my dad it felt a little bit soft after she reflocked it (note we did ask her to fit the saddles, not to just reflock) and the first day, no problems, the second day I could fit mypinky between saddle and wither. Not impressed, my trainer then had a look at it and said I'd put the saddle too far fore, and told me to walk for 20mins. 10mins later in the same predicament, sitting on her withers.
So the saddler picked it up, reflocked blah blah but my dad agreed to pick it up. He's said she won't be getting paid till they fit. Well, rode in it tonight and poor Duffy, I could have cried. She felt like she was stiff from her withers down. I thought heck, she might be stiff, so I'll give it a go, its not sat on her withers. No, its just misfitting everywhere else, and she still tried her hardest bless her!! I am FUMING. After I felt down the saddle, and I'm no expert, and my trainer hasn't been around, and there is lumps in the pannelling, not only that but the back pannels are so soft, that when I sit (and I'm only 57kgs) the flocking is sinking. ARGH.
Feel like I could cry, I'm borrowing a saddle when I can that fits, but its not mine, as I don't want to buy one as yet as she's changing shape so fast. ARGH.
Anyone else had this problem??? With Saddlers or anyone else??
