Must these be famous quotes or can they be quotes from anyone?
I think my absolute favorite quote is from my BO. We were watching one of the girls who used to board at the barn groom and saddle her horse one day. It literally took her almost two hours. You could tell the horse was getting bored and antsy, so the BO yelled (he's a VERY loud man when he wants to be):
"Get a saddle on that horse or he's gonna take a chunk out of your ***!" Words to live by, IMO. ;-)
Another one I like is this:
"A good horse sholde have three propyrtees of a man, three of a woman, three of a foxe, three of a haare, and three of an asse.
"Of a man. Bolde, prowde, and hardye.
"Of a woman. Fayre-breasted, faire of heere, and easy to move.
"Of a foxe. A fair taylle, short eers, with a good trotte.
"Of an asse. A bygge chynn, a flat legge, and a good hoof."
Tell me it can’t be done, And I will do it. Tell me the goal is to high and I will reach it. Place an obstacle in front of me And I will soar over it. Challenge me, dare me, or even defy me. But do NOT Underestimate me. For on the back of my horse ANYTHING is possible!
Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride,
Friendship without envy,
Or beauty without vanity?
Here, where grace is served with muscle
And strength by gentleness confined
He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity.
There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent.
There is nothing so quick, nothing more patient.
England's past has been borne on his back.
All our history is in his industry.
We are his heirs, he our inheritance.
-Ronald Duncan, 1954
Look back at our struggle for freedom,
Trace our present day's strength to it's source;
And you'll find that man's pathway to glory
Is strewn with the bones of the horse.

My horse's feet are as swift as rolling thunder
He carries me away from all my fears
And when the world threatens to fall asunder
His mane is there to wipe away my tears.
"He knows when you're happy
He knows when you're comfortable
He knows when you're confident
And he always knows when you have carrots."
~Author Unknown
This one has probably read a lot or seen a lot but it always makes me giggle.
"It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the horse bolts!" ~Nicholas Evans
I say this all the time after reading it somewhere here: "Horses are afraid of two things: Things that move and things that don't move."
Professional Choice's facebook has all kinds of horse-related quotes on its Wall, if you need quite a few. This one is from today: "There are only two emotions that belong in the saddle; one is a sense of humor and the other is patience."
