Funniest horse comments

Have you ever been talking to someone who owns a horse and they know absolutely nothing about it? Sometimes the stuff they say makes it nearly impossible to keep from laughing. I had one person my friend introduced me to because she though we would get along well. She owned a horse and when I asked her what breed it was she replied "black stallion". I thought maybe she misunderstood me do I asked again and she said "black stallion. You know, like from the book the black stallion?". It was do hard to not laugh an she only made matters worse by saying "I used to have a Budweiser horse too."

Anyway I hope you found that as amusing as I did. I would love to hear any comments you have heard like that....

Haha, funny. There are a lot of people on craigslist around here who say that their horse is, for example, half quarter horse and half stallion. It always cracks me up. I guess they did breed their Quarter Horse mare to a stallion, after all!

I am here to learn! :)

I was walking my big, black and white pinto, draft cross gelding along one of the back roads by our barn with my best friend. She was riding her Arab mare and I was leading Aires (he wasn't saddle broke yet). We passed this house along the way where an older gentleman was outside working on his yard. This particular gentleman owns two horses: a nice-looking chestnut QH gelding and an older Arab gelding with an atrociously swayed back, pot belly that makes him look like he's pregnant and horribly overgrown feet. As we walked by, this gentleman complimented how beautiful Aires is...and then asked if he was a thoroughbred. He looks absolutely nothing like a all.

my mother tries, really she does. but "brindle" horses are rare, and i've never seen a "fawn" (both dog colors) and my horse does not "run" she trots. However, she did surprise me by understanding aging by the teeth almost immediately.

I had somebody who is actually a horse person ask her daughter (my friend who later laughed about this with me) if my clyde/Tb/Qh cross ever raced (the woman knew of her breeding at the time too). I also had somebody else think she was full thoroughbred despite her tanky stature.
I was sitting on my POA one time talking to this woman at a pony club lesson a couple years ago. Now my pony has this giant spot on her cheek and pink spotted skin around her eyes/lips and is built very much like a QH (the typical POA build). And this woman (who is facing her spotted side) asks me if she is a welsh! My mother had a boyfriend as a teenager who either thought all black horses are stallions or all stallions are black. Some people take that movie title quite literally!

When I was young I owned a pony and used to get frustrated because a lot of people wouldn't believe he wasn't a "baby horsie." I would always patiently explain about ponies but must people seemed to think pony was another term for baby horse.

My friend was trailering her huge, grey gelding along with two 10yr old grey, shetland ponies and while stopped at a gas station a random lady told her kids "Look! It's a Mommy horse and she has TWIN babies!".

Here's a recent one. My husband was watching the ponies eat and the colt has a habit of pawing the bucket. My husband yelled, look out, he's going to charge!

Cracked me up.

As my boyfriend would call your horse a "Horse Cow"... oh god lol! No many how many time I have to say "it's a pinto, or it's a paint", nope it's a "Horse Cow" lol drives me crazy!

I was riding a pony at a local fair, got the "look at the baby horse" comment as well.. ugh!

At the same fair, I was riding my TB.. he excessivly foams at the mouth... more so drools. It's kinda embarassing, not going to lie lol! But this girl riding was next to me, we were waiting to go into a flat class... she proceeded to ask me "Is he disabled?" Uhmm what?!? "You know, he's drooling everywhere, is he disabled?" I just didn't say anything cause I knew if I did it wouldn't be nice, lol, just couldn't believe it....

I had a quarter horse that had frostbitten ears, so about half his ears were missing leaving these little stumps. I used to get asked all the time what happened to him and if he was deaf and all kinds of weird stuff. So this one lady asked me again what happened to him so I make up this story about ridding through the bush and a cougar jumping out of a tree and bitting both his ears off before I could beat it off with my reins. The look on that ladys face will be with me forever, kind of a mix of terror and facination with the wide eyed deer in the headlights look! Lol I had to quickly explain it was only frost bite!
