Gait

Ok you horse knowledgeable folks. Is this a gaited Morgan? Or a Racking Horse? I've never ridden either so I have no clue. Oh, forgive my riding it's the second time riding her and I wasn't sure where to put what yet. Oh... I forgot that Racking horses don't canter... right?

This one shows going away coming back and that she does in fact canter.

This shows a side view. She does have a faster gait than this before her canter. It feels like you are flying.

Some pictures:

I loved the commentary in the videos! It gave me a good chuckle. Haha

I know nothing about gaited horses, but I do know that that mare is very pretty! Is that the same one you were talking about buying in the other thread? She looks so different in motion!

Yeppers that is her! Those pictures did her not justice.

I thought the "I want to ride the horse, you can't ride that horse, can I ride Annalie?" That was my 2 (almost 3) year old! He is horse obsessed.

I don't think Morgan's can rack. At least not from what I have heard. Racking horses can canter.

Here is an awesome video of what a rack looks like:

Here's a random Google page I found when I searched gaited Morgans (maybe you've seen it already...):

Gaited Morgans - Gaits

That kid was two?? The way he talked sounded much older, I was thinking maybe 5-6! That was one of my favorite parts, my other favorite was in the first video when you went off into the bushes and your husband(?) said "where the H*** you goin', woman," that cracked me up significantly.

I think it went:

Logan (2 year old): "Momma can't be all done. Momma can't be all done. Daddy?"

Daddy (27 years old lol): "No you're not allowed to ride that horse!!!"

Rose (5 years old): "Not unless she gets trained." or something like that "I know how to ride Annalie all by myself."

Logan (again): "I can ride Annalie?"

Kids.... lol.

There is very little difference between a rack and a singlefoot/saddle gait/saddle rack so in theory they could. The mare is doing one of those gaits (impossible to tell which without slow mo). That doesn't really help in determining her breed though since horses sometimes do different gaits than the one they're bred for... and some can canter, some can't.
