So I teach beginner lessons at a local barn and we play games to help teach beginners the basics. Most of my students are between 7-10 so the games really keep them interested in learning more then just going around on the rail.
Right now we play Simon Says, Red Light Green Light, and what we call the "boot game" where the rider gets a horse boot from the rail and steers over to a bucket drops the boot and repeats (it's silly...but teaches good horse control!).
My question is, what are some good kid's games that could easily be transferred to the back of a horse? I haven't been to a girl scout camp in years and am drawing a blank on ideas. I'll be surfing the internet but would love more input. Also, what fun things did your beginning instructors do with you? Most of my girls love trotting...all the time, what are some other fun things to have them do? I like to try and switch it up a lot!
