German Hanoverian Branding?

My 20 yo Hanoverian gelding was born in Germany. I don't know too much about him. I got him from a man in my area who got him from another guy that got him from Germany. I realize it's possible that maybe he's not from Germany, but I trust the guy I got him from.

Anyway, tonight I was out in the pasture with him and I notice a really light Hanoverian symbol on his back left leg. It looks as if it was supposed to be a brand, but it's very hard to see, the hair is just shorter where the symbol is.

I am wondering if there is something else that might be there other then the symbol that might help me figure out a little more about his history. I don't even know his registered name which I would LOVE to know. Anyone know anything about German Hanoverian branding around 1989?

The hip brand simply tells you he is a hannovarian. All foals get that brand when they are still at the mother's side. Only approved breeding stock gets the neck brand which will be numbered so if you don't have any brand there he was probably gelded at a young age and never went through any approval for breeding inspections.

Would be very difficult to trace unless you knew who did the importation..

Oh that's too bad. It's still cool though I guess lol. Thanks for the help Spyder! I tried to look it up online, but a lot of things I came across were in German which made it hard.
