Glove recommendations please + what coat/jacket do you wear during the Winter?

I need recommendations for very durable, long lasting riding gloves with good grip. They would be for everything and should be able to cope with heavy daily use for at LEAST a year, preferably more. Price isn't an issue if they're going to last... I've been cheap and bought the $20 variety in the past, only to have them showing signs of major wear after one ride. Warmth isn't too much of an issue as I live in Australia, it rarely gets cold enough to need gloves for warmth and when it does gloves of any type do the job, however I want thick gloves as I prefer them (and have had my fair share of rope burn LOL)

I would also like to know what coats/jackets everyone wears in the Winter? I need to buy a new jacket/coat for horses and am deciding what I want to buy. I was thinking of a bomber jacket but am thinking they'd be way too hot? I've never worn anything other than parkas (admittedly probably what I will end up buying again lol) so wouldn't know.

Thanks

Do you have some kind of discount building supply type store ? Where you buy tools, hardware, lumber, and what not ?
Check them out and look for mechanics gloves. They are perfect. Usually a thin synthetic leather palm, machine washable, are pretty sturdy but fit your hands well enough you can do detailed work with them.

I have Mt Horse gloves for the winter riding. So far so good. As for coat - I just wear whatever old one from Kohls or Walmart I have (I assume you are talking about every day riding, not showing, right?).

SSG's 10 Below winter riding gloves are great, but only for riding. They deteriorate quickly if used for barn work. They are the warmest I've used so far, plus I love the knit wrists and they are waterproof.

I have a Carhartt type coat in the winter as my outer layer and use it while working at the barn, but I don't ride with it unless I'm riding outside since it's heavy duty warm. The canvas material is awesome because it blocks the wind.

Hmmm, I'll be checking out those gloves KV and IW, as I haven't found any yet where my fingers don't freeze.

For coats, well I love my outback oilskins. Keeps me warm from everything imaginable as well as dry. Lots of pockets for anything I want to bring. The liners do come out for warmer temps, but when it's warmer here, I just pull on a fleece as I am usually warm when winter passes.

I got awesome gloves last winter at Home Depot, the only bad thing is that they are pink. (I'm so not a pink girl) They are called "Tuff Chix" by Ironclad, they were designed by Paige from the extreme home makeover show for women in construction. They have great grippy fingers, fit well enough you can do small things like curb chains, cinch, etc.

Here's what they look like.

I've always used SSG gloves. They last forever, and have several different styles for schooling, winter, and showing.

Jacket wise, I do have my barn jackets, but usually I just wear whatever is closest. But my barn jackets are the Ariat Lexi, and a Kerrits. They're definitely more fit for riding..The whole shape is better.
