Going to State Congress for my Horse skill-a-thon!!

Earlier this year I took my first horse skill-a-thon I have ever had at county congress.

The results came out.... and I BEAT one of the girls that is 17 and been doing horse skill-a-thon and been around horses for almost her whole life!! I beat her! We were both shocked because I was expecting to be one of the worst!
But another guy two years older than me got champion for it and I got reserve champion! My mind was blown away, literally.

Well tomorrow we leave for our three days at State Congress. S far our county has gotten 2nd in the past three years in a row. So lets see if we can still make it to at least 2nd! I am so excited - this is my first time doing all of this, I am afraid that I didn't study the right things and we might not keep our record. But hopefully we won't!!

They don't tell us what we need to study, so we winged it and studied Leg anatomy, skeletal system, reproductive tract of mare and stallion, parts of the horse(I know that one the best, haha!) Parts of the hoof, plants, and conformation.

I know most of them pretty well - the three I am really working on to make sure I have down is the hoof, reproductive tracts, and the skeletal system.
On the skeletal and reproductive I highlighted what I thought was important to learn first - because I don't think they would give you the entire horse to fill out for every slot. There is one new guy with us that has never done this before and has the hoof down. But other than that - he knows a bit, but not everything.

But that is ok. He doesn't have a horse and he never really works with horses and stuff - so it is completely understandable.

But I thought I would just share with you my excitement!!
The part that will suck though, is that I have heard that the girls usually get the top part of the dorm building (we are staying at a college) and that is the hottest part. So we are melting while the guys are nice and cool.. Not looking forward to that part. And we have to bring out own sheets and blankets and stuff...... I also hear that the bathrooms....are NOT in the dorm rooms!! That is going to suck!
