Going on a trip what should I bring?

So I'm going to be working on an organic cattle ranch this summer, and I got permission to bring my horses along! Hahah what a sight its going to be I've been riding english for about 10 years and my horses have always been english. Any ways I'm bringing a really well stocked vet kit for the 7 hour drive with things my vet suggested and also hay and treats, just thought I'd see what other things might be handy to have for the drive and while being there.

We once had a horse at the barn who HATED drinking water from anywhere other then home. Of course, when they get thirsty enough they'll drink anything, but at the time I was eventing and you can't have a dehydrated eventer. What we did a few days before shows was put a tablespoon of dry kool-aid mix in his water bucket. When we got to the show, we'd keep putting the kool-aid mix in for the time he was there. Never bothered him a bit.

Other then that, think of what you're probably not going to need, or things you don't normally use at home.. then pack them. You'll probably be stuck in a situation where you'll need them haha, seems to always be the way!

Good luck!

I assume you have the obvious taken care of like buckets and grooming stuff and the grain that your horses eat, etc.

I always bring an extra container of water from home in the trailer (at least five gallons). This way if you have to stop for any unplanned reason (flat tire, etc) you are able to provide for your horses until help comes.

Yeah, I have my usual things like brushes and buckets, however the 5 gallons of water is a good idea I was planning on bringing water for the trip(of course) but wasnt sure how much extra I should bring just in case. Hmmm I might try the kool-aid for my horses on the trip, they personally hate to drink things out of buckets.
