Smile Gold horse head

Hello all,

I understand this may not be the thread for this but I need some help...

I am interested in a horse head I found on ebay but I am not too familiar with them. Can anyone tell me anything about it. I heard they were used at county fairs to tell owners where the horse barn is. I know this may be against the terms, but I need to get more info on this before I bid on it...

Http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gilded-Zinc-Gold-Horse-Head-France-Butcher-Shop-/280950732809?pt=Antiques_Decorative_Arts&hash=item 4169f7f809#ht_500wt_1374

Any help would be great!

Shawn

I actually saw one of these on one of those shows where people bid on storage units people don't pay for.

You're actually on the wrong end of the spectrum as to what it is. And actually it's title gives it away.

I'm not sure how old they are but they were hung outside of butcher shops to show people that they sold butchered horse meat there. They are quite rare. The price is about right. I don't recall how much the one on TV got appraised for but I remember it's a lot. Good find, wish I had the money.

This is pretty cool... what do you expect this to go for on ebay?
