Good horse fiction?

For adults?
Apart from War Horse, which I want to read but my library is out of stock at the moment, I'm struggling to find any horsey fiction novels aimed at a more adult audience.
Does anybody know of any I can read and enjoy without feeling like I'm stepping back in time to my ten year old self? :)
Also any novels non horsey related you may have read recently and loved?

Dick Francis, Felix Francis, Kit Ehring, Jane Smiley, Ann Self, John Francome are all fiction writers who's novels revolve around horses. The 80 Dollar Champion is also an excellant book.

If you go to amazon and search on Horse fiction for adults, you'll find a boatload of books. :)

The Lady by Anne Mccaffrey is for adults, has a little romance, and takes place in Ireland and has alot about irish breeding, showing, hunting, ect.
