    Cool great ride today!

I'm so happy! I bought this horse only just earlier this month and I only get to ride 2x a week so I haven't ridden him too much. I was so worried about making the decision to buy him, whether he was the right horse for me or not. I actually turned him down and then a few days later changed my mind and called the woman to see if he was still available. So, I bought him. Anyway, I have ridden him a few times in the arena and a couple times on trails with other riders but today I had the opportunity to take him on the trails by myself. I was a little skeptical as I had problems once before getting him to walk down the 'scary' driveway. Today he actually picked his step up a little when we started down the driveway and didn't hesitate at all so I was encouraged. He was really well behaved on the trail but at one time he suddenly spooked. He thew his head up and spun around and acted like he was going to take off BUT I just pulled back on the reigns and said 'whoa' and he did. I turned him back around and saw what caused him to spook, a deer was apparently about 20 ft from us in the bushes and it bounded off. He didn't want to continue on at first but I encouraged him on and he went. We walked around on the trails for a bit and then headed back, he was good the whole time

Isn't it great when you make the right decision?!
You just never know when you buy a new horse if its going to be a dream or a nightmare. Glad yours is turning out to be a dream. Don't worry about a little spook, but always have a plan in the back of your mind as to what you will do if he spooks and bolts. Vida is a well seasoned trail horse but still once in a great while something will look or smell funny to her.
Have fun and congratulations on your new fellow
