ground poles!

So I took Ice out into the arena today instead of keeping him pent up in the round pen, we did a very nice session over some trotting poles! He didn't even hesitate (which I assumed he would, he's always finicky about how much effort he has to put in to something) and he actually took to it quite nicely and had a fabulous working trot going on. The poles were set up like this: \ | / with another pole directly across from the middle one. He even started getting ahead of himself and would hop over the single pole, and then try to do the same over the three poles but end up trotting with his front and jumping with his back.

Also on a good note, He did a complete circle to the right (usually he does a half circle before swinging his butt out) without trying to get away from me! Then I spent the next 40 minutes trying to get him to do it again to no avail. So we did some more trot poles and called it a day. Over all it was just a very nice day, it was sunny, not very windy, and like 75! Good day for being with horses.

Haha, that sounds like you had a splendid time. =]
I love it when everything goes right and perfect for a change.
