Grumpy

So I got to visit my horse Sky in the states for approximately 9 days (was there for 10 but we had a day off :)) and now I'm back in lovely New Zealand for who knows how long.

I miss him already, and I feel really bad for leaving him again. He may not understand it, but I don't like that his 'herd leader' keeps coming and going and that I can't really communicate it to him.

Now what really bothers me is I am literally on the other side of the world... the farthest I can be from anyone... including my horse. I haven't seen my horse in over 9 days.. before that it was a year. And I come on here and I see people that live, what, an hour away from their horse and they whine about not being able to see their horse in 3 days, or 5 days, max a month.

How do you think I feel? Do you know how hard it is to be away from your horse for a YEAR? That you have to PAY over 3 grand just for a TICKET to get to the same country as your horse! I know RoperChick gets it because quite far from her horse as well.

I rely on updates from my friend looking after him and the barn. It's a lovely start, but it doesn't beat being there in person.

Rant over.

Look at it this way, at least you got to see him and spend some time with him. And while you miss him and being away hurts, it really isn't the end of the world. I'm sure you don't want to hear that, but it isnt. Life goes on. I'm missed my animals when I went to college, but that's just how it was and I had to deal with it.

I feel you Sky, I used to be away from my horses for years, it was hell. Now with college it's getting back to the same thing. I know it's tough being away from him, but just know he's always there and will be when you get home. I do agree it's hard listening to others who get to see their horses every day, don't have school, or don't have to work. Those people can ride day after day, but I'm looking forward to after college. I'll have my horses right out back, and that's worth it for me.

I know he's worth it for you, just keep your head up! *hugs* to you!

You have every right to feel grumpy/discouraged/sad - I remember when you first got Sky, and it must be hard right now to have seen him and be away again. It won't be forever, though, so just let the tears fall a little, smile when you think of your awesome rides on him, and let all those zillions of photos give you comfort..... Sending big hugs :)

I know it's not the end of the world.. did I give off that I'm a hopeless wreck about to jump off a cliff? Cause I'm not, lol.

Just grumpy about the situation and decided to vent to people I thought would understand... apparently not all do.

Well we met in Colorado, then we had to move because my jobs (two of them) were not enough to support him and living on my own and car insurance, etc. so I went with my parents to the east coast.. then we got transferred to NZ and I didn't have a job at the time nor enough money saved to bring him with.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to get out of this situation I'm in so I can stop being so far away from him. I moved out here in 2012.

You can be as grumpy as you need to be. Totally understandable.

I feel the EXACT same way... I haven't seen my horse in 10 Months. And I have had him for 11 years!!

I live in Alberta for work, and he lives back in British Columbia. It's hard for me, every single day. I can hardly look at pictures without crying. I know how it is. But you just need to think that he is being loved. Turly is free leased out to a 13 year old year who loves him to bits and pieces. Our BO takes extra special care of him as well.
