I totally get you too! I am in Canada and my friends and family are in Germany... it is hard. I have 2 horses over in Germany (well, my friends are taking care of them) but it was so hard not to be with them that I just bought 7 other horses here in Canada and started a horsey business :0) ...cant stand beeing without my horses! Hope you will see your love again SOON!

I'm originally from Hawkes Bay, NZ....been in Canada for ten years, hold dual citizenship......the hardest thing for me was to be somewha stuck here in Canda while my father died of terminal cancer....I got home twice to see him (plus funeral) but it was the hardest thing to be so far away......

Oh my gosh, that is my biggest fear that something happens to any family member or friend back home and I am not there.... so sorry to hear that!

Its very dry where we live at his time. Worst its been in several years. But come on over and bring snow.

Global warming. No the temp is the same as it has always been. Its global drying some one is getting all of the moisture in the form of snow.

Where does this young person live in NZ.

If in Auckland, or north of Auckland she is only three hours away from my place. So we have three horses that need riding at this time. Kate my wifes quarter horse, Bugs, my quarter horse cross TB, and Stella, 16 plus hands of station bred. That is clydesdale and what ever at the time and she is being transitioned to bitless.

Tomorrow is the big day for her as she is going into the bush for the day, bitless and only her second try and first big day out. I will be riding or is that hanging on. My style of riding. Hanging on is a good discription

So to the person missing her horse I'm on the west coast in Northland if you are close there are three horses to chose from. Bugs needs milage, Stella needs fitness and kate well she is for sale but needs to be kept in work.
I live in Wellington, NZ, but the North Island is so small maybe it's something I could consider.

Despite if it works or not, you're absolutely wonderful for offering :) I'll shoot you a PM. I am very fit, but of course always room for improvement.

AlexS, I would never dream of selling Sky. Even when I cannot ride him anymore.. he is my soul horse. And it's not about paying for all the bills.. I happily do that. I happily have him in training, and happy allow a friend to ride him whenever she wants. I just don't like being so far from him.

I don't mind living here. Everyone is wonderful, I love my job but it's temporary. After it ends, I'll be facing new problems. If Sky were here, even with these circumstances.. I'd approach it a lot differently and with a lot more smiles.

Thank you so much Island for posting! I'm glad we understand each other, and I'm glad you went out and found some new lovies to love on while you're away from your other ones.

    Update

Upon talking with Stan we figured out we are 500 miles, or 10 hours one way from each other.

Doesn't look like it'll be a possible thing. Not with the gas prices here in NZ nor the hours of the day with me working fulltime :/

It was very kind of him to offer though.

O/K the distance is a problem but should you ever want a Holiday in Northland and some riding we will make you welcome. We ride all year round. You might like to google the great new zealand trek it starts in a few days and ends close to Wellington this year. I was considering taking Bugs but the issues of traveling to the start was in the to hard basket at short notice.
