    Guess what??! :D

Lacey has started shedding fur on her face and on her lower shoulder!
Therefore, it stands to reason that maybe spring is closer than it had previously appeared! I'm thrilled. I love the spring. I can't wait for trail rides under budding trees and being able to ride bareback in her field again because the ground has more grass on it and is less muddy. I'm SO excited!

However, I'm not looking forward to lil' miss hussy starting back into her little "OMG! I'm in heat!! Therefore, I need to be CRAZY!" mode but I'm hopeful that maybe this year, since she's not around any geldings and hasn't been since August, maybe she'll tone it down a bit.

    *does happy dance*

Are you excited for spring? What are you looking forward most to?

My crew hasn't started shedding, but to be honest I haven't taken a curry to them in 2-3 days. So, maybe... just maybe they are now. I can't wait to see their summer-sleek coats shine in the sun :)

BUT, I don't like spring (around the barn, atleast)... way too rainy/muddy/messy for my liking with all the snow melting. I'd rather skip right to summer. Wishful thinking, I know.

We have so much snow that my 6 ft chain link kennel panels are covered about 2 feet or more so I can stand on the snow and look over the fence.
Was below zero last night, will be cold again tonight. If we are lucky we might have spring in about three months.

I've heard that shedding is just on account of UV light, not heat. I may be wrong, though. It's still full-blown winter up here, sadly =(
