Is this the first day they were "discovered" or something?

Most people are like Slinkies; they serve no real purpose, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on for dear life.

Nope, this is their "official birthday" as specified by the Jockey Club. Something to do with racing age I think.

Isn't it supposed to be on january 1? Or is it already jan 1 where you are?

If that is the case, happy B-day to the QH's as well.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

yeah it has to do with racing age. All Thoroughbreds are rounded to January 1st so that they are eligible for racing sooner. So technically, an 18 month old could be considered a 2 year old depending on the month they were born.

My two girls, Ginisee and Demi have their birthdays today (although their real birthdays are in February)

Happy 18th Birthday Ginisee!
Happy 7th Birthday Demi!

Uma is the only one that doesn't have a bday today. She's 3/4 Tb and her birthday isn't until early April
