Some backstory- I bought a double registered AQHA PHBA mare in 2010. She went lame three months later. We gave her a coffin joint injection and she went sound. I bought a new saddle, paid for two months professional training, and six months later lame again. This time the injection didn't work. I started her with corrective shoeing and even tried two months stall rest. I just couldn't get her sound. By this time I was so fed up, even if I could get her sound I was really discouraged about riding her. I like jumping and she just wasn't ever going to be a jumper. I tried breeding her to Arts Self Portrait this February. She didn't take.
At this point, I was done. I wanted the foal more than anything. Spent a lot of money in breeding, training, medical bills on this mare and only got hurt because of it. I put her up for sale, and literally that day a lady called me. She wanted something for a second horse, light trails only. Seeing how my mare was only lame in a circle at the trot, it seemed perfect. She came out, met her and loved her, but didn't want to pay the price I was asking for a lame horse. Honestly I don't blame her either, people are giving horses away around here. I just wanted to make sure that she would be in a forever home, so I lowered the price and even delivered her. (After getting a vet and farrier reference.)
It has been 2 months now and I have to say I am thrilled. The lady I sold her to has kept in constant contact with me. She sends me pictures, and we even went on a trail ride on Saturday. She and her vet and farrier studied her issues and put her on a treatment schedule and she is 100 percent sound! She gets ridden on trails 3 to 4 days a week, wtc and loves her job.
The picture with the pretty braid was her at her new home. The other two are from when she was with me :)
