Has anyone ever got a feedlot horse, sight unseen? I found out about the Fallon, Nevada feedlot, and the rescue that places horse from there. There are 7 horses in the kill pen, and they seem a little down on the number of ppl sponsoring/adpoting/donating to spring these poor things from jail this load. The truck comes tonight, and if they don't have adopters these go on the truck bound for the canada slaughter house.
I talked to the lady for a half hour last night. Among the horses is a gray 14 year old arab (or arab cross) gelding. He is broke to ride, and one of the kids of the rescue contact at the lot was on him, riding him around. They said he;s sound (i don't believe everrything I hear though....)
Anyways, just looking...I don't like grays. I don't want a gelding..But somehow I can't really feel happy with myself if I let a perfectly decent, broke horse go off to slaughter because Im so freakin picky. I need to make a decision by tonight.
Has anyone ever got a horse from a feedlot? How did it go? Disater or good?
This is him, btw. He's the gray further down the page. Heck, he's the only gray. Nov 10 Rescues - EQUINE ANGEL Helping Horses
