Have you ever felt this way?

I've been around horses for six years, and I'm comfortable with them. As long as they don't act up, I'm fine with giving them a little extra rein or slip them an extra horse cookie. I've never really bonded with any one horse though... until Colby came along.

It's like he's part of me. Sometimes in the ring he will act out a bit, just to test me, and its like I'm always three steps ahead of him. My trainer says that when she watches us together in the ring, its as if we are one. Totally in sync.

I love Colby to bits. I love everything about him - good and bad. I love the way he trots alongside my car when we pull up the driveway; him in his pasture, me in the passenger seat. I love the way he thinks he can fool me by holding his breath when I'm tightening the girth. But most of all, I love how he seems happy enough to just be around me. One afternoon I was sitting outside of his stall cleaning my saddle, and he stood there for an hour and a half with his head over the door, watching me contently.

I love my horse, and there is nothing I wouldn't do for my silly boy. If you love your horse for uncountable reasons, and you have a story to tell, post it in response to this. I'd love to hear what you have to say.

Yeah, I sometimes forget that Sunny is a horse, and treat him like a person! He is so layed back and not scared of practically anything. I talk to him and treat him like an actual person. He dosen't seem to care either!

Most people are like Slinkies; they serve no real purpose, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on for dear life.

I love my Vida like that too. I trust her enough to let her go at a full gallop, which is something I have never done on any other horse. She has her lovey days when she will follow me around but mostly she like to eat
Her daughter Saro is going to be my shadow horse. I've just started riding her (she's 3) and she is doing really well. She is the one who is first to the fence when she see me, will follow me around and likes to bury her head in my arms for a hug.

This is sad to say, but the horse that is supposed to be mine is not the one that I have bonded with(but he is still new to me, so that could explain it).

High Five is absolutely my best friend, no doubt about it. I used to be terrified of him, but then after being around him for a few years, I realized that no matter how bad he acts or how much work he puts me through, I will always love him, which I can't say for most horses.

Like the other day, we were trail riding through some pretty flat trails, and Five and me were in the back of the bunch, slowly walking along. We came across a pack of wild dogs, and one of them took off towards the horses, and scared the horses. Five and I were preoccupied with something else, even after someone screamed dog, I didn't hear them. When Five saw the dogs he took off running and started crow hopping. I went FLYING off of him and he accidently stepped on me(poor thing was scared). Luckily for me, I was wearing a helmet that day, and still almost managed to get a concussion. I couldn't hardly stand up, but when I finally did, I just started laughing at Five and what had happened. His wandering mind and mine caused us to have an accident. lol. It was too cute. He was terrified, so I did my best to comfort him.

If that would have happened with any other horse, I wouldn't trust the horse enough to ride it back to camp. I love him. I know where he likes to be scratched and rubbed, and I also know that he will always take care of me.
