    Helmet or no helmet?

So everyone. Helmet or no helmet? What discipline do you ride? And why do you wear one or go without?

I ride English. I grew up a little hunter/jumper kid and you didn't get away with riding without. That habit has been beat into me. I've branched off into eventing and I've adopted always wearing a safety vest too. I've ridden too many "broke" horses that didn't even understand the basic concept of steering so I like at the very least, to be wearing some protective gear. And boy am I ever glad I did a few days ago. I got ripped off backwards by a tree branch (only at a walk but ugh so painful) hit my nose on the tree, the back of my head on a rock and my back landed on a jagged rock aswell. I was pretty happy that I had my gear on for that one!

    So what about you guys?

I wear a helmet 99% of the time. I mainly ride and compete western, but I do a few english shows. I wear one because I value my life. Sure, even with a helmet on I could get seriously hurt, but every safety measure counts.

Its been done to death, but I will always wear a helmet. I have too much to loose by not wearing one.
