Helmets

Just made a thread about boots, but now I'm asking about helmets! I've started up lessons again and no longer have the helmet I've had for years. So I need a new helmet! It doesn't have to be anything fancy, as it's just lessons, but something decent. Does anyone have any suggestions for good helmets? Thanks!

Even for lessons I really love my Charles Owen. I haven't found any other to fit me as well as these, and on top of fit they are super comfy!

that being said, I also have an IRH I purchased on sale at my work. I am honestly not a huge fan of how IRHs fit in general, but it's alright for schooling - I mostly just bought mine instead of another CO because even though our indoor is huge, if there's a few people in there already I prefer to go to our outdoor to school and if it's raining I'd much prefer the IRH getting wet than the CO.
I have this one

I still love the Tipperary. Bought one 10 years ago and just replaced it. With another, lol! Sun wear (+4000 trail miles) and a handful of minor oopsies decreed the time for the prudent replacement rule was at hand.

Thank you for the suggestions! It's really appreciated. I'm looking for something on the cheap side, like under $100. Is it still possible to get a decent helmet for that price? I can't remember what kind of helmet I had before but I loved it...

I always recommend the Ovation schooling helmet. It's lightweight, low profile, comes in different color options, and I find it to be pretty comfortable. I got mine in 2010, and since then it's become pretty popular. It costs around $50 I believe.

Seconding Tipperary. I tried more expensive helmets a couple years ago when I was in the market for a new helmet and didn't find them to be any less bulky or more comfortable than the Tipperary. Tipperary Sportage Helmet - Equestrian Riding Helmets from SmartPak Equine

I second the Ovation schooling helmet. I have one and I really like it, it stays cool even though it's black and I ride in 90+ degree weather, and it's light weight an comfortable.

Any approved helmet will work for schooling provided that it is in good condition, fits you, and hasn't been in a fall. Sometimes you get what you pay for though- I'd look up reviews on that particular helmet before buying it.
