Help me think of a show name for my horse

Hey guys!

Well me and my horse are hoping to start doing some dressage shows in the New Year, so I need to think of a show name for her!

Here's some little facts:
- Her barn name is Galina (but I don't really want it to have any connection to this name - I'm not entirely fond of it)
- She is a standardbred mare
- Dark bay - but she gets a lighter bay colour in the summer and dapples on her belly =P
- 16hh
- 9 years old

You can see piccies of her in my "barn" on the forum

I really like the fancy/posh show names and am really not fond of those funny/ditzy/silly/goofy names - they just don't seem very "dressagey" to me.

One I was thinking about was "Pas De Deux" which means "a dance for two" in latin. I like the way it looks written down and what it means, but it doesn't sound so fancy when you say it ("Paa Dee Doo")

Anyone got any ideas? All welcome.

(Mike feel free to move this post, I wasn't entirely sure where to put it)

see i rescued my mare and i named her "Rayne" and when i begin showing her i am going to use "She's my kinda Rayne" for her show name.

For shows where your horses name will hopefully be announced a lot be careful. While most dressage shows will be able to pronounce properly Pas De Deux will very likely be "butchered" on a regular basis. Its actually French though derived from Latin originally.

I will think about it and let you know, nice horse!

Actually that is a really good point about the pronunciation thing...

I am thinking about this, will try to come up with something, and almost everything has a latin derivative, (had to take in elementary school many moons ago)

AH HAH! I used to train Standardbreds.....so, of course I love them.
What was her registered name? Have you researched her freeze brand or tattoo on whatever site you use in Oz for registered STDBD's?

She should have a zillion choices for a name right there in her pedigree.

I'm pretty sure she's not actually registered. Haha that's ridiculous that I don't even know. I'll have to ask her previous owner, I see her round a lot anyways. She is branded though, so if I look up her brand number can I trace her breeding?? And if I can, what sort of website do I need to be looking at?

Gosh it's silly that I know nothing about my horse's breeding I guess it's because I didn't really go through the whole official sale thing with her, no papers involved, just paid the money and she was mine! I have only had her for a few months though... so I guess it's not toooo bad.

Wow I'm good at rambling.
