Help with a saddle!!

Ok so I am purchasing a saddle here shortly and I am not really sure what the difference is in buying a synthetic saddle and a leather saddle. I mean obviously on is real leather and one is synthetic, but as far as riding goes what is the difference?

There are major differences between synthetic and leather, depending on what type of riding you plan to do.

What is you chosen discipline?

Well currently just pleasure. My horse still needs some training. Hasn't been rode that much and considered green. I figured I would buy a synthetic just in case for some reason he breaks it. And then eventually show or reigning. (which I know I would need a different saddle) but I would definitely like to start him out right.

There is so much more involved than just synthetic vs. leather.

There are a lot of BAD saddles out there. Really, really bad. Ebay is a great place to find a good saddle, but it's also a great place to find a BAD saddle. It is full of cheap knockoffs that will be uncomfortable for both you AND the horse. If the price looks too good to be true, it probably is.

I'm currently debating leather vs. synthetic. While I prefer the "look" of leather, I do appreciate the price and light weight of a synthetic. It also seems like you can "feel" the horse a lot better through a synthetic than a leather saddle.
