Here She is... our new baby!!

Here is our new addition... a 7 month old (today!) APHA filly. Neighbors needed to move her, we were thinking about breeding Whiskey, and so we decided to adopt her and keep Whiskey in the show ring... a win/win...

Her mom is a Little Bit Smashed Quarter Horse a quarter horse mare, very race bred - going back to Easy Jet and Three Bars - Her grandsire, Easily Smashed, was AQHA Champion 2 year old and sired a ton of running horses... with a little foundation thrown in. She is 15.1 or 15.2.

Her sire is Gallant Pep Paint - he is a decent (not great) homozygous paint who has really good bone, short cannons, and traces on his dams line to Gallant Ghost who is an APHA Supreme Champion... his sire line goes to A Shade of Class - Superior Halter horse... he is 15.1.

We get to name her - which is very exciting... I am thinking of these:
A Little Bit of Grace (Gracie).
A Little Bit of Faith
Sheza Little Bit Lucky
A Little Bit Classy.

We'll call her Gracie - my six year old already given her a barn name. She follows us around and halters, ties, and somewhat leads :) ... can't wait to play with her.

She got a half dose of wormer today, we have put her on a good 50/50 mix hay (alfalfa/grass) and introducing her to mare and foal developer pellets. I need to go get her a salt/mineral block on Saturday.

Since our Colorado winter isn't done by a long shot, we will leave her fuzzy, but can't wait to see what she looks like come spring :)

She's adorable but looks underweight :\ With some TLC and nummy food, she should be great!

She is really thin with a huge potbelly... I am quite sure she's wormy... we will worm again next week. The neighbors had her out with their big horses, so she didn't get enough to eat, plus it was only grass, not enough for a qrowing baby. I think we got her early enough to catch her back up, we just need to go slowly and carefully...

I personally think she is adorable! With those flashy markings, I'm sure she will be an absolute show stopper when she grows up. What are your plans for her?

We will see what she grows up to be... I am hoping to show her APHA in pattern classes... showmanship, equitation and horsemanship, trail. She is very level headed and willing, and is a very cute mover.... just don't know until we know her better. I do have a two year old daughter that I would love to see riding her in 4h about 10 years from now... my 6 year old has already claimed whiskey ...

What a cutie! I'm sure you'll do good by her, getting her all fixed up.

She is wormy, cowgirl... she got a half dose today and will get another half dose next week... she is also started on good groceries so we look forward to watching her bloom

Thanks Happy - she carries herself very level 90 percent of the time and has a cute jog... I can't wait to let her out and watch her run :-D
