Hobby or Way of Life?

So are horses more of a hobby or a way of life to you?

Right now they are more of a hobby, but if I owned my own barn and everything they'd be a way of life.

How about you?

Ummm.. i'm not really sure. My life does revolve around the horses... been late for dinners because I was riding, woken up early to go riding...

But I guess since I don't have my horses on my own property it would be considered a hobby....

It's just to.. big ,for a lack of a better word, to be "just" a hobby. My life really does revolve around horses

I would have to say my life revolves around horses. Tuesday, thursday, friday I am around horses pretty much ALL DAY!! I love horses and I love bein around them..

AND!!! Of course I love my NANA and spendin time with her.

Most definitely a way of life for me. I get up at 4.30am every morning to go and feed them before work and then straight after work we go out again to feed and ride etc

Nearly every one I know is a horse person and 98% of my conversations are horse related

I wear horse shoe earring, a horse ring and one of about 6 different horse pendants every day.

My lounge room wall is covered in horse photos and ribbons and trophies etc and nearly everything I do is horse related in some way, shape or form.

Theres always boots at the front door and a rug on the table waiting to be fixed. Or a saddle or bridle that has come home to be properly cleaned etc before a show.

When we buy apples, carrots, garlic, vegetable oil or bananas we buy twice as much so the horses have treats. And if its at the end of the week and we need to go grocery shopping the horses will get the last of the veggies :)

And lastly (that I can think of) our budget is at least 50% horse related. Its always one thing or another.

Yup! I think its pretty safe to say its a way of life for us :)

Horses aren't exactly a way of life for me, because I am involved in other things. But I wish that they were. I get out to the barn only about twice a week. I miss Jubilee so much and wish I could just stick her in my bedroom. There's so many things on the go right now, especially with finishing up university.

One day though... when I have my dream farm.... *Sigh*

Hobby. Riding is something fun that I do but it's not the most important thing in my life and I don't think it ever will be.

Hmmm. When I think of horses being someone's way of life I think of an extensive showing career or running a breeding, boarding, or training facility. So I guess for me they'd be a hobby although I don't ever plan to be without a horse or two for the rest of my life.

Horses have always been a way of life for me. I make my living elsewhere and I have my family who will always come first but nearly everything else involves horses.

Where and when we take vacations, where we live, our daily and weekend schedules, the time I get up in the morning, the friends we have, where "excess" money goes ... I can go on forever but I think I've made my point.

I certainly have other interests such as flying RC planes and jets, motorcycles, fishing, and boating. Other hobbies have come and gone but horses are in my blood and I study them as well as ride and own. That is, to me, a way of life.

I may not see mine every single day, and he may not be on my property, but they're a way of life for me. When I was younger, my mom had horses. A year after they died, we got two standardbred race horses and had them for two or three years. A year or so after we were done with them, I started taking lessons, and then it was just a hobby until I got my boy.

When I got him, it was two or three days a week out there, and when I finally got my license, it's been three to four during the school year and five to six in the summer. My friends have accepted that I'll usually run out to the barn before we hang out on a Saturday and my best friend comes out with me a lot. I've been pulled out of school to go ride : D and been late to things because of riding.

I was going to go into high school sports, but when I got him, I dropped them for riding.

Oh, and I get more excited when buying things for him than I do for myself and for my birthday and christmas, a lot of what I ask for is horse-related things.
