I got the new kindle fire so I now have tons of books at my finger tips! :) I just downloaded War Horse (better then the movie so far!) and I was thinking about the 80 Dollar Champion too. Any other good horse books out there?

Ok...are you ready? Here goes!

80 Dollar Champion is excellent!
anything by **** Francis...and his son Felix
by Rita Mae Brown - the fox hunting series with Sister Jane
Blaze of Glory and Look Twice by m. garzon
Down the Aisle by Leslie MacDonald
anything by Jane Smiley related to horses - I particularly like the series starting with The Goerges and the Jewels
The Steve Cline mystery series by Kit Ehrman
Falling for Eli: How I Lost Heart, Then Gained Hope Through the Love of a Singular Horse by Nancy Shulins
Renegade Champion by Richard Rust
Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand
Chosen by a Horse by Susan Richards

and I probably have a ton more to recommend but this should get you started. :-D

I am seconding Seabiscuit - by Laura hillenbrand, I have not heard of anyone who did not love it. Even my brother who was not a big reader and does not get horses loved that book.
Crazy Good: The True Story of Dan Patch, the most famous horse in America - by Charles Leerhsen - I found leerhsens writing style tricky to get into; however, the facts of the story made up for it.
If you can get a copy of it a cute sort of easy read are General Jim - by Arthur Bartlett and Red Horse Hill - these are both from the 1930s so they may not be e-books.

I read Seabiscuit years ago but I think it may have been written by Walter Farley maybe.... It was a version more for teens or preteens I think. It was really good. Any recommendations on a good romance?

I really liked the horse whisperer and the man from snowy river... Books are always better than the movies. There is a great book about Man o' War out there and another about Ruffian. I don't remember who wrote them though....

I don't think Walter Farley wrote a Seabiscuit book. The only one I'm aware of is by Lauren Hillenbrand. Now Marguerite Henry wrote a book about Black Gold that I recall enjoying.

Beyond the Homestretch by Lynn Reardon is a great book about OTTB rescue. She runs LOPE down in Texas.

You might also like The Horse God Built, a Secretariat book that focuses on his groom Eddie Sweat.

Oh, and Horse Heaven by Jane Smiley is a fabulous novel.
