Goldilockz's thread on horse magazines sent me to Amazon to check out what other mags I might like to suscribe to...which lead me to search on books about horses. Not educational, rather fiction...from way back in the day.

Does anyone remember the Billy & Blaze series by C.W. Anderson? With those gorgeous pencil illustrations? Or Sam Savitts Vicky & the Black Horse? Or a book about a girl and a throroughbred called Sweet Running Filly?

I'm now going crazy adding all of the books I read as a kid to my wish list and will slowly collect all that I can remember. But if anyone has any other suggestions for me, I'm all ears!

Thanks for listening...that was rather random wasn't it? :)

I was a Marguerite Henry fanatic as a little kid. My librarian got tired of signing out Album of Horses for me, lol. King of the Wind is still high on my list. I remember another book I really liked, I think it was called Year of the Black Pony.

*mental head slap*

How could I have forgotten Maguerite Henry (Misty of Chincoteague) and Walter Farley (Black Stallion)??? I devoured them all back in the day. So I'm adding those to my wishlist as I've not a clue what happened to my copies.

I do still have Black Beauty somewhere around here. And I have read the Sara Gruen books...but thanks for that suggestion. :)

And **** Francis? My all time favourite! I have all of his books and have reread them many many times.
