Some animals like horses and dogs that don't live as long as humans mature alot faster. So the equation is to show you how their actual age compares to a humans rate of maturity. So mentally they are a lot older than a human would be at their age.

Ok here goes :)
Fancy, 3x (15-3) +15 =51
Comanchie, 3x (5-3) +15 =21
Kate, 3x (3-3) +15 =15
Abby, she's 8mo, 3x (.66-3) +15 =7.98(or 8)
Wow Fancy is old...
Hehe just for fun I reversed it to see how old I would be if I was a horse. I'll be 18 in June.
(17.66-15) /3 +3 =3.887, lets round that to 3.9 that's like 3 years and 10 months :P

thankyou that cleared it up for me!!!! I thought that was what it meant but I wasn't 100% sure!!!
