I LOVE threads like this. I can read through and copy stuff, so I don't have to dredge through my > 50 years of memories--Thanks, ALL!
Here are my favorites, in no particular order:
The Black Stallion
The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit
My Friend Flicka
National Velvet, however, WHO writes a story where the rider falls of and blows the race?
Secretariat (Had to buy it--I watched him race!! BTW, Penny liked "Riva Ridge" better.)
Miracle of the White Stallions
Thanks a LOT, Royal Pine Buck--You got me watching this today, when I've got a long list of stuff to do!!!!!!!
This is Probably my favorite, bc, as a Theater Major and parttime filmmaker I really love the character development along with a great telling of the true story.
The Story of Seabiscuit, ditto
War Horse, is now on Broadway, so it's been transcribed twice, the 2nd to a film as referenced above
I KNOW this isn't a movie, but, as part of the mini-series, "Centennial", you should watch, "The Longhorns" episode sometime. I Always admired the actor who played (rode) as "Nate Person," but I didn't know until recently that he was at one time a rodeo rider. His seat is magnificent--doesn't move, he and his horse are one unit.
