Lightbulb Horse Novels

I am a big fan of reading and have read tons of books on horses, breeding, caring for your horse, barns/stalls, barrel racing etc. I really want to read a novel that horse related (of course ;) lol). Any suggestions?

It kind of depends on what reading level you are. The horse Whisperer by Nicholas Sparks was really good. The accident scene was very realistic and the descriptive portions were pretty good. The "love story" was a little blah and I wasn't crazy about the ending but it was definitely a good read.

My Friend Flicka by Mary O'hara was good. Then comes Thunderhead (Son of Flicka) and then Green Grass of Wyoming. It's a trilogy...

I liked the Walter Farley version of Seabiscuit and all of the Fury of Broken Wheel books... (sorry - I don't know if you are a teen or an adult)

I'll try to think of some...

Green Broke
The Black Stallion books. There's a crapton of them.

The Eighty-Dollar Champion by Elizabeth Netts looks good.

This one isn't very well known, but I enjoyed it a lot. Very much so for those interested in dressage!

The Horse Dancer by Jojo Moyes

I just recommended this on another thread - "Horseplay" by Judy Reene Singer. If you aren't too familiar with horse trainers you'll really like it and if you are familiar with horse trainers you'll love it! It's a very funny book about a woman who leaves her husband and goes off to live and work for a German dressage trainer. Both the characters and the story are hilarious! Enjoy!!

I'm not sure if any of these are what you are looking for, but I love to read anything I can get my hands on about horses and these are some of my favorites.

She Flies Without Wings by Mary D. Midkiff
A Bridge Called Hope and Hope Rising both by Kim Meeder
Chosen By A Horse by Susan Richards
Chosen Forever also by Susan Richards ( I haven't read this one yet but I loved the first one so much)
Sometimes A Woman Needs A Horse by Betsy Talcott Kelleher
