Race horses go to slaughter hell all breeds go to slaughter race back yard show etc etc.

So because people in other disciplines mistreat their horses, that makes mistreatment of race horses OK? Oh of course, I get it now, thanks for clearing that up!

Firt of all where did I state it is okay? I do not support the abuse of ANY discipline and that is what I was saying to say racing is the only abused industry is the ignorant part. I think some need to read that pos again. I was simply stating all horse disciplines have good and bad ALL. I don care what sport it is there is abuse present. I did not post to piss people off i8t is just an opinion dont like it dont reply its that simple this is a friendly forum not a Im right your a idiot forum. To each there own.

I do love watching them run, there is just something magical about it and I generally watch the triple crown races every year. However I don't agree with how early they are started or what happens to so many ex race horses. I would have to say the breakdown at the Preakness and later euthanization of Barbaro and the euthanization on the track of Eight Belles after the Kentucky Derby really broke my heart.

The loss of barbaro was tragic event. I cried when it happen. Things like that happen to so many equine athletes. I sent many cards and wishes of quick recovery. I prayed all that they were doing would work yet when he was finally laid to rest and free from anymore pain I was somewhat relieved he no longer suffers.
Micheal knew he made a mistake and regrets everyhing. The jockey told him that Barbaro was off a little But they all decided he would race. Barbaro wanted to race. he loved what he did. He loved to race. If he didnt he wouldnt of been the great horse that he was. That horse was amazing. But like in any equine sport accidents happen. Like that year in the olympics when so many event horses died and the officials were wondering if eventing was a safe enough event to hold and had made them rethink the jumps. They made alot of changes in the eventing world.
But to this day My breath is taken away when I see a horse perform at the top of their game. Wether race horse or show horse.

Barbaro

I personally think Barbaro would have won the Triple Crown that year had things not turned out the way they did. He ran with so much heart it was breathtaking to watch him.

Not all racehorses break down young. There is a race run at Newbury called the Veteran's Chase and the youngest horse that entered this year was 10 years old, the oldest was 14 years old. These are still racing, there were Grand National entries running in it. Kauto Star is 12 years old, won the King George VI cup on Boxing day for the 5th time. Denman retired at 12 as well. There has to be something right going on for them to make to this age and still be racing. Not every horse makes it to that age on the race track, I'm not blind but they are well looked after.
