Well, you are going to have overhead costs like land taxes, electricity and water.
Some stuff you should think about asking and answering in the project...
-You have your own horse correct? How much does it cost to feed them every month? Hay, supplements, grain etc. Take that as a *general* cost of feeding your barn full of horses. (My barn only supplies hay and grain with the boarder having a labelled trash can in the feed room that has their horses name on it. The boarder purchases anything extra.) Consider in the winter, horses might need more hay in the summer.
-What about paddocks....are you going to have enough that you could do rotational grazing, or are you going to have to feed hay all summer?
-You could look up local barns that have websites to see how much they charge for board/training and base how much you would charge off of that, as well as how much lessons are. Also include co-boarding of lesson horses.
-How big of "barn" is this going to be? 10, 20, 30 horses?
-Will you need an "employee" to work full time or part time to help out, or will you be able to do it all by yourself? Would you be willing to give an extra lesson or two in exchange to the kid(s) that help out with beginner lessons...grooming, tacking up, leading, untacking.
