    Question Horse Tattoo?

I already have one tattoo, it took me three years to decide what I wanted, and so I'm being very thoughtful on this one.

I bought my first horse through a lot of heartache and struggle, and she means the world to me. She's a big grey ottb mare, named Lacey. I want to get a tattoo to appreciate and remind me of her and the most important thing I've done in my life.

I'm trying to steer away from portraits as they can go terribly wrong as well as being horribly expensive. I currently have a bible verse as my first tattoo, so I love script.

I thought about getting her tattoo on me which is, I29532, but I really don't want it to come across as a bar code number or even worst, something from the holocaust.

    Any ideas?

May you could make the number in script and wavy or curved like a horse shoe. Or have it read down instead of across.

Are you going to tattoo her lip tattoo on your lip?

Maybe only horse people would understand though? Lol

Hmmm, I'm no artist but could you maybe get a horse head silhouette or something and then incorporate the number inside or along it? I understand about the portrait thing. We had a friend who wanted one of her horse done and while my mom's drawing as a sketch was amazing, the tattoo artist was not so good..... thankfully he'd just been doing designs on a drawing board instead of her! Maybe just a side profile of a halter or bridle?

No, it wouldn't be on my lip, just somewhere, lol. Yeah, I've thought of those, it's so hard cause I want something really meaningful, soething I totally get, but I have no idea what it is lol

Your mare is so adorable! She looks like such a love!

Maybe come up with a phrase that describes her well and put it in some super nice script font. I know quite a few people who get tats of their TBs id, but your horse is so much more than just that.

To make my tat (maxs circle star brand) look not so much like a brand on me, I had the phrase "Maximum Stryde~forever float with angels wings" in cute script around the circle. Wham bam, reference to my darling boys amazing movements and my angel of a grandmother all in one.

I agree that it might be a good idea to steer away from the numbers as a tattoo. They won't have much meaning to those other than yourself. Besides your horse is more than a tattoo and the tattoo was not assigned with any feeling to your horse. The jockey club randomly assigns them, its not even something that her breeders selected. I would go with something simple a horse shoe, an outline of a horse head and the mares name and maybe the date you got her.

You could always incorporate lace in the design... I don't have any suggestions but I've seen a few really great looking pieces with lace in them. Maybe you could work it in as well...
