Question Horsehair Jewelry?

Does anyone know where I can have horsehair jewelry made or what I really want is a dream catcher? I have to put my mare down, and I would like something nice to remember her by. I am getting her cremated also, but I want something I can hold, something that I can look at and see that it was her. Or does anyone have directions on how to make a horsehair dream catcher?

I am sorry for your loss. It is very hard to go through.

There are lots of sites for that kind of thing that I found when I had Dakota put down. They are a bit pricey, and that is partially why I haven't had anything made yet. Another reason is that I am terrified about sending off the last bit of him that I have.Heres my favorite thing that I have found that I think I want done with his...
Horse Dance Stick

This one seems to of had the best pricing and lots of different things you can have done. Also, she seems very respectful of the loss.Make sure to read her "why"section.

Oh my gosh I love the horse dance stick. Thank you so much. I am not ready to go through this but I knew this day would come (I've had her for nearly 16 years) but it is still so hard.

I know what you mean. I lost Dakota, he was only 4 years old.But my mom is bringing my horse,Cochise to me in less than a week. He is getting to be an older man, I have had him since I was 5 and he was 2! I know eventually; it will have to be done again. I think the idea is a bit easier when you know they are older, than when you loose them suddenly at such a young age. Anyways, sorry totally off subject.

Let me know if you decide to do the dance stick. I really think that is what I am planning on doing for Dakota. Heres somthing else I found. It is horse hair pottery.I personally didn't care for it; to me it has an eerie look to it.

I am so sorry for your loss of Dakota. Its always hard, but you're right, at least when they are 28 years, you know its coming. I am now leaning towards having the Horse Dance Stick, I think its worth saving for, plus I have enough mane and tail to possibly do both a dream catcher and a horse dance stick. I have never been a fan of the horsehair pottery, it doesn't reflect my Bella... she is a free spirit, and I will do my best to honor her. Thank you, I probably would have never found the Horse Dance Stick.

I don't care for the dance sticks, but you can have a nice bracelet made that costs about the same.

My bracelet is a true piece of jewelry though, so cost a lot more than $80.00. Cottage Tails, Pony Locks, Twisted Tails, etc. can make a nice braided horsehair bracelet for anywhere from $50.00 to $150.00, depending on the detail.

I bought mine from Solenaro Designs, because I wanted something I could wear every day, that wouldn't look out of place at a formal gathering. It's a beautiful piece, but cost me quite a bit more than some people are willing to spend.

OP, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Whichever way you decide to memorialize your horse, I hope it brings peace to your heart.

My husband is a goldsmith and can make fine jewellery that incrotperates mane hair. He made me a beautiful one to remember a mare I was forced to sell years ago. He incorperated his hand engraving into it (he makes buckles and saddle silver etc) and also engraved her name on the back. I'd suggest searching out a local jeweller/goldsmith/silversmith if you want a great piece of jewellery.
So sorry about your impending loss...It's hard.
