Horses and College Applications

I am looking to get into the University of Louisville for next fall. I have great grades (3.95 gpa), ACT score, and essay, but I have very little community service. The reason I don't is that when I am not working on school work (I am home schooled) I am rehabbing my abused Walker mare, training my foal, and doing other various horse things. I have rescued three horses in my six years of owning them, along with 2 cats and 2 dogs. I also work part time for my dad's company as the IT manager. What little community service I have has been two years ago or more.

Is there a way to apply my animal rescues to my community service? Or should I just put what I have done officially? I've asked several people this question, no one seems to have an answer, including the college.

Thanks!

Why not list your work as equine rehabilitation?

Contact someone from admissions and express your concerns. I don't know about UoL (go Cardinals!) but at Midway, they are very open and will work with you to help you get what you need. I'm sure if you were to contact the right person, you'd feel better. It is always best to ask.

I saw in another post why you want to go to UoL, but have you considered Midway. It has an EXCELLENT Equine Program. If you would be interested in taking a campus tour, or talking with someone, please let me know. If nothing else, you would see a pretty campus, pretty horses, probably test the school's food, and see the ADORABLE town of Midway out of the deal.
