how can i tell a painted horse?

hi guys, not been on for a while.
Not really enjoying the snow to o much although Biscuit is.
Quick question for you all, a friend asked me the other day "how can you tell a painted horse without reffering to actual pictures?"

I was not entirely sure so I thought i'd ask online.

Any ideas?

I will admit it, I really have no idea what you are asking.

Can you clarify so we can help you?
