how do you spend your horse funds

There was a small discussion today at the barn about money and horses.
We were trying to decide which category we fall under the most.
Need
Want
Spender

So here's the question. Which one are you the most.
Are you a "needer" you mostly spend money on only stuff you absolutely need for your horse
Are you a "wanter" you mostly spend money on stuff you want for your horse but don't necessarily need.
Are you a "spender" you see something for your horse and buy it just because it might come in handy later.

I am mostly a "needer" but after I get all my needs out of the way I bite my lip and try not to walk into the spender category but it never works.

Feel free to type an answer as well.

Since I am 36 and paul is my first horse, I am a spender. I'm glad that I have a great job that allows me to buy him the necessities and then the frilly things that I think are just too cute. If I had gotten my first horse when I was younger, I would only be spending the money on needs instead.

There are no needs in life only wants.

Now think about it before you quote me.... think of some thing you think you need....why do you need it?

Interesting. But I still see the stuff I buy such as food and vitamines as a need.
Along with suppliments and medications to help with illnesses such as colic.
I view a want as a saddle, bridle, brush kit....stuff that isn't going to keep her alive. I'd like it, I have it but I don't need it to maintain her health or my ability to take care of her.
Anything to keep her safe and healthy I consider a need.

So yes I WANT to keep her safe and healthy but to me that is classified under needs

its all wants ! I want the best for my horses lol

Ohhh well umm I want to say I'm a "needer" but then there are times when I have a little extra and I "want" to buy something extra lol.

I can be a little of all 3 :)

Fortunatly we are comfortable enough that I can buy wants every so often!

I'm a "needer" - but I'm that way about everything, not just horse related purchases.

I mostly only buy things I need. I'm also a minimalist so I like to ride with the simplest possible tack, so I don't need much. If something breaks I get a new one, if my horse is sick or injured, I buy what I need to get him healthy. Unless I find a great deal on something I might use, I don't buy it.

Due to my limited income right now, I'm a needer/wanter. I've been getting the basics I need to ride and now some of the basics I need to show, a little at a time. But I know that once I have a job again and have finished saving of the money to get the horse I want and the tack I'll need to get started, I'll probably move into the spender category for sure. I really like all the cutesy stuff - esp. All the little bits and bobs that don't cost a lot, but are really fun.
