How to get papers?

Hi,
I bought my mare in the beginning of 2008, but didn't get any papers with her.
She is apparently a Connemara or a Connemara cross and born in Ireland.
What I was wondering is if I'll be able to track her papers somehow to get them, or if that's impossible?
And if she isn't 100% Connemara, does she have papers then?
The only way I could think of to track her origins, would be to ask her previous owners about who they got her from, and so on ~ until I come to the "source".

Would be really nice if you could give me some advice..!

Thank you!

If she's not branded, tattooed, or microchipped, or if the previous owners won't cooperate, you're probably SOL. Are you even certain she had papers in the first place?

She is not branded or tattooed, but she has a microchip. She got that one when I had her though... but maybe she already had one...? Is that possible?

No, I'm not certain that she has had papers..
But I'd like to find out.
A friend of mine claims that "all" horses get papers if they are to have a name.. though of course, I know that isn't the case.

It's not the case, and your friend is mistaken. Papers are proof of registery, and if she were a registered connemera, she would be tattooed. The only papers you're going to get are your bill of sale ;)
