I know this has probably been asked 100x ovr before, but searching revealed nothing!
I am completely new to Horses: I know some of the basics and have ridden in a ménage off lead rein before but that's about it, however I would like to get into Horses as we have various birds of prey and I would like to eventually hunt them on Horseback (my hawk is steady as a rock with horses as he is flown in fields by them and since around 18 weeks old he has been around them whilst he was being tamed down so that isn't really an issue)
So.. I am just wondering the best way to get into the equine world? Hopefully next year (can't do it this year, I'm in debt for a massive vet bill with the aforementioned hawk!!) I will be able to take riding lessons and learn the basics, but I'm not really sure where to go from there? I don't want to own my own horse either; I would most likely only have one on part-loan due to having other commitments, both money- and time-wise. And can anyone suggest any good books/websites to read in the mean time? :)
