I don't have a round pen to lunge her in (and frankly, I don't know if in her life anyone ever has lunged her, so I don't know if she even really knows how. If anyone has any tips/advice for getting a horse started on lunging that would be much appreciated).
I was thinking for the first ride to haul her to the arena a 20 minute drive from the house, and walk and trot and just get to know her better. I'm not a huge trail riding fan here (scary plastic bads, urban trails, bicycles and yappy dogs abound), and I intend mostly to work with her in an arena.
I do intend to camp out in her pen tomorrow with a lawn chair, and talk to her and do my homework out there. Did I mention I'm excited
How long should I wait for her to settle before riding her? Three days? A week? 2 weeks? Thanks!
