I don't do it weekly. Most pay monthly.
Anyway. I went from 450/month for just board to 300/month to 50/month.
My horse is used as a lesson horse so I'm discounted. If he were not, it would be:
275/month board
20/month for shoes
80/month for Supplements
So, 375 a month for the very basics. I recently had a large vet bill to account for. I'm always buying tack as well.
The highest at one time was:
450/month board
50/month for aluminum shoes
20/month for antihistamines
And of course the extra tack and vet care.
Therefore 520/month.
I now pay 50/month for board
10/month for shoes
80/month for supplements.
I am cut an excellent deal - 140/month total.

I'm in scotland so my amounts will all be in pounds sterling.
(my pound sign on the keyboard isnt working so I'll just put numbers)
this is per month

grass DIY livery = 65
feed= 18
supliments= 6
shoes= 25 (50 every 8 weeks)
insurance= 12
wormer = about 2.50 (he's wormed every 13 weeks)
vet= aprox 7 (thats for his yearly check-up including teeth rasp, and jabs which is about 90 at the time, but I try to save for it each month so its not a mega bill!)
livery extras= 40 (thats for him to be checked in the pm's for me)

so I guess its about 180 a month.

eek! wish I hadn't just done that! lol!

I am in Australia so this is in Australian Dollars per month.

Hay - $150
Shoes - $80-$90 or just a trim - $40-$50
Drench/wormer - $15 ( every 2 months or so)
Agistment -$15/week so $60/month
Fly repelent - $10
Tack - $20-$30

Total - approx. $345

This is for a mare who is NOT in work! If she was in work there would be extra costs for hard feed, supplements etc.

There are also the odd vet checks to pay for which can be very expensive!!

Hmmm.......now that i've done that i have this strange erge not to buy so much stuff at the saddlry that i don't really need!! Lol!

Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole and, once it has done so, he will have to accept that his life will be radically changed.
