Hypp n/h

I wasn't sure where to put this so sorry if this needs to be moved.

I'm looking at a half paint/quarter horse mare for possible purchase. She has Impressive in her. I'm wondering exactly what questions I might need to ask about HYPP? I know I am looking for N/H, correct? I don't know what she is yet since I wanted to educate myself somewhat before inquiring about her.

Also, from what I understand, if a horse is N/H, this means the horse cannot pass on the trait but does this mean they will have no symptoms?

Thanks.

NO! You are looking for N/N!

N/H, there is still the possibility that any resulting foal could come out N/H as well.

And N/H horses CAN have episodes and symptoms. Some may have them very early in life, others later in life. Diet plays a huge role in this.

Go for N/N. Always. I will never, ever own a N/H horse. Ever.

Right, you want HYPP/NN. I don't know how the paint registry works so if the horse is not registered AQHA then ask for the name of the horse sire or dam (whichever is the one with the Impressive lines) and we can do a pedigree search to see if you have NN.
