    The video I saw when I clicked on your link was this:

    It is a fun and entertaining. The horse was bridled the entire time, but did have the saddle removed shortly into the performance. Very well trained horse with a great partnership with the trainer

    Not sure if what I saw was the video you were talking about though

    He appears to be using an aid of some sort. My guess would be a short stick in each hand. Similar to what is used in parrelli. He is definitely holding something in each hand when he is standing on the backs of the mares. Very impressive video, training, horsemanship, and balance
