    I think after time, you won't forget anymore! Just keep practicing. I am a re-beginner and it came right back to me after years of not doing it. And watching videos helps too hehe

    I to use the holes in my latigo. Have never had one come undone in my 22 years of riding. Whether climbing hills, working cows, barrel racing. It always stays just fine.

    Haha, Sky, I agree. I am SO paranoid about cinches, seen several too many come unwrapped, break, slide, etc....

    I've been doing it that way forever and never had a problem. If you aren't comfortable with the tongue going through the hole, what do you do with the off billet?

    It's not the tongue, it's the latigo just being fastened to a horse by the buckle going through a small hole that irks me. If it was the same direction as a stirrup leather's buckle then that wouldn't concern me AS much. The older way with the 4 knot/tie seems like it would be less likely to come undone. And I'd feel much safer going that way.

    But like I said, whatever works for people.
